FACES IN THE MIRE

downtrodden

Greatness is expensive
it comes to those
able to price and pay,
the price is sacrifice,
not cheap,
but high as the cloud
its path is rough
the climb is steep
more than climbing
to the peak of the
highest mountain,
one pushes,
sweats,
hurts and strains,
yet endures
and keep pushing,
not because glory
calls out from the peak,
but for the eager
faces in the mire
which will smile
when the price of
sacrifice is fully paid.
