Oh my little town,
they said our fusion
was unholy, a recipe for
unworthiness,
not because
our hearts weren’t
pure to feel what we felt,
but for race, colour, status,
such cruelty,
the boundaries of
our hearts couldn’t
contain the tears,
they flowed freely
through our eyes,
not to lubricate them
but a sign of our pain,
down our cheeks,
into our mouths,
tasting the salt,
as we kiss passionately
for the last time.
